Guide of Creative Holiday Gift Ideas

There is nothing on this list of creative holiday gift ideas we wouldn’t want to receive ourselves. That’s the filter by which we put this together. Would I like it? Would I use it? If the answer is anything other than yes, it does not move forward. Cheers to all these yeses, and may your recipients be just as excited about these cool gifts as we are.

Gifts for the Playful

Creative holiday gift ideas for the fun-loving folks in your life:

Bold Made

Such an innovative and empowering way to learn about strong women. This new game for kids – Bold Made – is a new and improved twist on the classic card game Old Maid. Each woman in the deck has made important contributions to her society and to the world at large, including artists, activists, astronauts, musicians, inventors, photographers, writers, scientists, and world leaders. Women include such leaders as Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Malala Yousafzai, Temple Grandin, Marie Curie, and Harriet Tubman.

Taco vs. Burrito

This wildly popular and surprisingly strategic game was created by a 7-year-old that has taken the card game industry by storm. (see Bold Made above). The object of Taco vs. Burrito is to build the weirdest, wildest most valuable meal using the supplied deck of cards and starting with either a taco or a burrito.  With over 6000 five star reviews, Taco vs Burrito sold a whopping $3.5 million in 2020. Very clever.

Bubble Tree

The first-ever eco-friendly sustainable bubble system that uses a non-toxic bubble solution made in the USA – Bubble Tree. In addition, the refillable bubble system saves parents money by not having to repurchase a bubble wand and container when they run out the first time. Not to mention the reduction of plastic containers. This would have been a huge hit in our house when the girls were little. (We must have gone through HUNDREDS of bottles of bubbles!)

Hues and Clues

What hue of color do you think of when we say “apple”? Hues and Cues is a vibrant game of colorful communication where players are challenged to make connections to colors with words. Using only one and two-word cues, players try to get others to guess a specific hue from the 480 colors on the game board. Since everyone imagines colors differently, connecting colors and clues has never been this much fun! (Remember the “is the dress blue or white” controversy? The fact is, we all see colors differently.)

Gifts for the Kitchen

You don’t have to be a cook to enjoy some of these creative holiday gift ideas:

Oteas

Oteas loose and bagged teas are made from the highest quality leaves, herbs, flowers and spices. Never crushed, always whole, tea flavors include Moroccan Mint, Black Tea with Caramel, Organic Lemongrass/Ginger/Cinnamon and many more. Plus their bags are made from biodegradable material and are plastic free. It’s a true zero waste consumer product.

Elda’s Kitchen

These grilling sauces are perfect for dad (ok, for us anyway!). Elda’s Kitchen sauces are small batch, artisan-made sauces that are vegan friendly, gluten-free, verified non-gmo and contain no preservatives, msg or high fructose corn syrup. Flavor packs like It’s a Wing Thing include Hot Wing, Spyki and Jala-Hot sauces. Yum!

Churro Kit

Our kids have been obsessed with churros since they were little, and now we can make them at home. This DIY Churro Kit comes with just about everything you need to easily make about 40 homemade churros. The set includes a piping bag that creates the classic churro shape with ridges, and the deep fry thermometer will help maintain the frying oil heat for delicious golden brown homemade churros.

Wunderkeks

Wunderkeks is a bakery with a purpose. Not only are their cookies and baked goods amazingly delicious, the company’s goal is to help us stay in touch with our inner child. Flavors like Amazing Life-Changing Snickerdoodles, Triple Chocolate Chip, Red Velvet with White Chocolate Chips are big hits in our family. Gifts for the Guys

Guys can be super hard to buy gifts for, so here’s a few creative holiday gift ideas:

Outlaw Soaps

This is a soap company with a wild sense of humor and quality products to go with it. Outlaw Soaps makes Western and Wild West themed personal care products for individuals who seek adventure and reject a couch-bound life. All soap, lotion, body wash, deodorant. Beard and Hair Elixir, and solid colognes are handmade in small batches in the USA. We love the way these products smell, and reading their packaging is half the fun!

Society Socks

Society Socks are not only stylish and extremely comfortable, the company believes that socks can change the world. With each pair purchased, they donate a pair of socks to charities across North America. Tons of fun designs and colors are available, and you can purchase them in pairs or sign up for a monthly subscription. We have several pairs and they are hands down our absolute favorites.

Society Socks come in fun colors and styles.

Geologie

This men’s skincare company focuses on facts, not fads. Geologie matches products to each individual’s own skin type and needs. I filled out a quick diagnostic form about my face and skin, and Geologie picked out exactly the proper combination of products specifically formulated for skin like mine. I received four products to begin a new skin regimen, and definitely notice a difference.

Gifts for The Practical

Sometimes a practical gift better fits someone’s personality:

First Alert

Great for travelers, the The First Alert Carbon Monoxide Alarm with 10-Year Battery and Digital Temperature Display detects dangerous carbon monoxide for up to 10 years. It’s small, compact and easy to bring in a suitcase for peace of mind on those family trips to new places. A built-in 10-year lithium battery means you don’t need to worry about changing batteries during the lifetime of the alarm.

23 & Me

Stay with me on this one for a minute. What’s more practical than the fun of discovering your genetic predisposition to various things, as well as your health records? 23 & Me is an ideal way to answer so many questions about yourself, your health and your genetic background. I’m getting a test kit for my brother so we can compare health stats and see if there are things we need to watch out for.
