With so many resorts to choose from in Greater Palm Springs, it can be hard to zero in on the right selection. We’ve stayed in the area dozens of times and love it here, and recently discovered the Miramonte Resort & Spa. Our family has found it to be the right mix of hotel amenities offered by larger hotels, combined with a smaller campus feeling of two-story buildings scattered across a landscaped 11-acre property. As far as hotels in Greater Palm Springs go, the Miramonte Resort & Spa is a great choice. We like it so much we’ve returned again for repeat visits.

Greater Palm Springs a Premier Destination
The Greater Palm Springs area is deceivingly large. Everyone knows the City of Palm Springs, which is charming in its celebrity history, midcentury architecture and broad avenues filled with shops and restaurants. We love it there too, but the Coachella Valley is vast and there are sweet hamlets up the valley towards Indio deserving of attention. The Miramonte Resort & Spa is in Indian Wells, part of hotels in Greater Palm Springs that includes neighboring cities Palm Desert, La Quinta and Rancho Mirage. Known for its balmy weather, golf courses and tennis courts, Greater Palm Springs is all that and more.

Visitors and residents love this southern end of the Coachella Valley because it’s just more chill. Toney country clubs, vibrant green golf courses and fun boutiques and restaurants populate the area. And of course there are those gorgeous Santa Rosa Mountains that rise up from the desert floor, purple and majestic. Away from the hustle and bustle of Palm Springs proper, the area is even more relaxed. Hotels in Greater Palm Springs seem to mirror this vibe, and families love it here. Ours certainly does!
Miramonte Resort & Spa is a Great Choice for Families
There are several reasons our family keeps coming back to the Miramonte Resort & Spa. The value for our money, easy location, spacious rooms, and beautiful grounds are all at the top of the list. Plus the property is part of the Curio Collection by Hilton, which means Hilton Honors points can be earned and redeemed here! These and more are some of the reasons we recommend the Miramonte as one of our top hotels in Greater Palm Springs.

Impeccable Landscape
Not only is the Miramonte Resort nestled into a great spot at the base of the Santa Rose Mountains, the property is well laid out over 11 acres. Low buildings of just two stories are separated by landscaped gardens and impeccably maintained lawns. With grass so green you can hardly believe it’s real, the gardens are dotted with interesting sights. Fire pits and comfortable seating are positioned throughout the property for gathering at night under the stars. Rose gardens, citrus trees and other tropical plants bloom nearby and the scent of their flowers is sweet and pure.

We were impressed at how well maintained the whole place is, with old growth trees and towering palms. Little curving stairways, balconies and potted flowers add to the personality. These views combined with the nearby purple mountains make the Miramonte one of those places you don’t necessarily want to leave.

Pools and Spa
Another reason why we rate the Miramonte as one of the top hotels in Greater Palm Springs are the amenities on site. With three pools, there are plenty of spots to chill and relax. The main pool is quite large, complete with cabanas and spacious heated whirlpool. Towards the back of the property, another pool and whirlpool offer guests a quieter experience. And inside the spa, a third pool caters to those seeking zen treatments and a nice beauty dip. Within this area is also the River Bench, heated to 102 degrees and featuring waterfalls and nooks for privacy.

Speaking of The Well Spa, Triton had a fantastic spa experience here the last time we stayed at the Miramonte. The spa is not large, but has all the right makings for a relaxing stay. He was super happy with his massage, and the sauna in the men’s area was a perfect way to prepare. As spas go, he rated this one highly because it was not such an enormous corporate experience.

Enormous Suites
Each time we’ve stayed at the Miramonte, we’ve been impressed with the size of our rooms. Fitting a family of four into a hotel room sometimes makes for cramped accommodations. But here our suite was quite spacious, with two queen beds inside a large bedroom area.

Adjacent was another living room area and fold-out couch, which can be sectioned off with interior curtains for added privacy.

Another thing that makes this one of our top hotels in Greater Palm Springs is the bathroom layout. If you have teen girls, you know that the bathroom gets taken over by them quickly. Here the bathroom and shower area is big and spacious, with a walk-in tiled and glass-enclosed shower and nice fixtures. Even better, an entire other vanity and sink area with big mirror is positioned outside the bathroom door. This way, a dad can brush his teeth outside, while the girls are doing whatever they are doing inside. This makes for a happy family.

Interesting Public Spaces
The building architecture of the Miramonte Resort & Spa has interesting character with Spanish influences. Yellow colored walls are punctuated by tile and iron work, and building are separated from each other. It does not feel like a massive corporate hotel, but more intimate and individualized. This is a hallmark of the Curio Collection by Hilton, were each hotel has its own personality and defining features.
The fitness center here is just passable and kind of small. We are an active family and like to work out, and this facility had the basics but could do more. Literally that is my only criticism of this property, and even then it’s not a strong one.

The lobby feels large with very high ceilings and interesting art. We found it interesting since the rooms are best accessed from driving to adjacent parking areas. On our stays here, we simply drove over and parked near our room to unpack our bags. I’m all in on having the bellhop carry our bags, but here that is really not necessary.

Connected to the lobby is a large bar area and interesting restaurant called Citrus & Palm, which is also a good name for a soap brand. We ate breakfast here each morning, and loved the choices including both savory and sweet menu items. Hint: if you eat here the chicken apple sausage is fantastic and we also liked the butternut squash pancakes. Yum!

If You Go
Another reason we rate the Miramonte Resort & Spa as one of the top hotels in Greater Palm Springs is its value. Rooms here start at around $200/night USD, which is a very good price for this area and level of quality. We chose to stay in a Junior Suite, which is priced starting at approximately $270/night USD. If you are a Hilton Honors member, even better pricing is offered. The regular room price goes to as low as $157, and junior suite to as low as $208.
With all this property has to offer at these prices, we’ll definitely be back again and again. Maybe we’ll see you there!
