Gordon Ramsay is a force of nature. Famous for his volatile temper in the kitchen, Gordon Ramsay is an enormously talented restauranteur with several locations around the world. We were invited to try Gordon Ramsay Burger at the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, and were pleased the Chef brought his considerable talents to the menu to offer some outstanding burger dishes (not bad for a Brit.)

The menu at Gordon Ramsay Burger really does offer something for every member of the family, and we gobbled it up. Not the destination for a light meal, GRB sports a menu chock full of cheesilicious concoctions. Appetizers that stood out for us included the Kettle Chip Nachos, with shredded corned beef, short rib, sour cream, and english cheddar cheese sauce, and the Beer Battered Onion Rings, dusted with parmigiano-reggiano and served with chipotle ketchup cheddar ranch dipping sauces. Not light fare, but oh so good!

For the burger action, we went for the server’s recommendations of Chef Ramsay’s signature items. Triton ordered the Hog Burger, complete with mangalitsa pork, mangalitsa bacon, bbq pork, white cheddar, pickles, crispy onion and slaw – it was enormous. I went for the Lobster and Shrimp Burger with pan seared lobster and rock shrimp patty, pickled vegetables, herb aïoli and frisee lettuce. We split them so each of us could sample the goodness. And good they were – the patties were cooked to perfection and the combination of flavors was like nothing we’ve ever tasted. I think the smart move of adding pickled vegetables to each was just the spark to give them a special zing.
The girls were pleased to order their own regular favorites. Sophia likes a hamburger with cheese, tomato and mustard only, and Ava likes hers plain with only ketchup.
We eyeballed the compelling milkshakes on the menu, with choices like the Brown Butter Caramel Pecan Shake with brown butter ice cream, candied pecan and shortbread crumble. Another consideration was the Crème Brûlée Shake – a chocolate or oreo milkshake with a crème brûlée top. As good as these sounded, we were too focused on our burgers, onion rings and delicious truffle parmesan fries to fit one more thing in our bellies.
Chef Ramsay, I knew you were good at fancy, and now you’ve proven yourself good at the great American icon – the hamburger. Gordon Ramsay Burger is a must on our next visit to Las Vegas.
And yes, they have salads for those of you who want to eat healthy. Yawn.
