Not to be confused with Knott’s Scary Farm, which is a nighttime collection of creepy creatures and frightening attractions for teens and adults, Knott’s Spooky Farm is the daytime weekend family-friendly Halloween celebration at Knott’s Berry Farm. I had such a blast with Sophia, not little anymore but still a little freaked by the antics of the horror crowd at night, and the Spooky Farm was the perfect blend to make us very happy on all fronts.

The designers behind these decorations really did a fantastic job, using rooftops, fenceposts, storefronts and garden areas of the western-themed amusement park as canvasses for their creative Halloween fun. This brings a layer on top of the already fun experiences at Knott’s Berry Farm we have enjoyed recently, like the time we chaperoned a junior high band trip here last year.
We would hate to meet the spider that made these enormous webs at Knott’s Spooky FarmIt was cool to see kids little and big all delighted with the festivities. We went on all the rollercoasters and were particularly loving GhostRider (how appropriate for the season!) and the giant raft ride BigfootRapids, which gave us a cooling splash or two on a hot Autumn day.
A few of our favorite Knott’s Spooky Farm highlights:
- Friendly characters throughout the park, dressed for the season as ghosts and skeletons and the like, all gathering the attention of kids and adults with stories both funny and scary
- Trick or treating throughout Ghost Town for the littles, and seeing the smiles on their faces as they knocked on shop doors to receive sweet treats
- Sophia kept saying “oh look at that little kid – he’s so cute!” as she watched the littler kids toddle around in their Halloween costumes
- The real black horse painted with white bones to look like a skeleton
- The live Snoopy & Friends stage show called “The Monsters are Coming, Charlie Brown”
- Dia de los Muertos non-scary educational and display area complete with themed face painting

The last time I visited Knotts Berry Farm was ages ago. How I wish I could bring my kids there. I don’t remember exactly what I saw during my Halloween visit, but I do remember screaming….A LOT! ;P

A visit here looks like such a fun acitvity to do with kids for Holloween!
